Shirotake Japanese parasol “En” Rikyu_bai
This is a Japanese parasol made of natural materials, not only the white bamboo handle but also all the small parts.
The wooden handle to hold the umbrella open is made of wood instead of metal, and the nails used to connect the parts are made of bamboo.
Bamboo nails are used to connect each part.
The indescribable sound of the wooden hajiki is pleasant when the umbrella is opened, and the white bamboo feels comfortable in the hand.
The plum tree is said to have been favored by Sen no Rikyu. It is a symbol of prosperity of offspring due to the fast growth of the ume tree and its perseverance or vitality, and is also considered a lucky pattern representing the New Year.
To make a single Japanese umbrella, various craftsmen make the bones that form the framework, the parts called rokuro (potter’s wheel) that connect the bones, and the Japanese paper. Tsujikura’s craftsmen then make it into one Wagasa.
Wagasa is made through relationships between people, and these relationships are further connected to customers and to the next generation.
With this meaning, we named Tsujikura’s Japanese parasols “En,” meaning “to connect.
We will devote ourselves to making wagasa every day so that we will be able to expand our business with people all over the world through “En”.
