~Craftsman’s handiwork “Tomekugi(peg)”~

Wagasa umbrellas are decorated with various kinds of workmanship.
The craftwork introduced here is a “Tomekugi(peg)” that prevents the Wagasa from being turned inside out by the wind.

Bamboo is shaved with a small knife until it forms a small nail, which is then attached to the handle of the Wagasa.

The inside of the Wagasa is decorated with threads, so it is difficult to see the toggle nails, but the craftsmanship of the Wagasa craftsmen is also packed into this small work.
