Gion Festival and Traditional Wagasa
Supporting the Gion Festival with handcrafted bangasa.
During last year's Gion Festival procession, held in the rain, Tsujikura's traditional bangasa were used by the Naginata Hoko float.
Quietly accompanying the procession, these umbrellas are among the essential tools that help preserve the festival's timeless atmosphere. Each umbrella is carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans, carrying forward Kyoto's rich traditions with every step of the parade.
The parasol shown in the photograph is decorated with the Naginata Hoko. It is a piece created with deep respect for the festival's enduring heritage and a heartfelt appreciation for Kyoto's cultural legacy.
