For this exclusive collection, this precious Kurotani Unryu-shi (cloud-dragon paper) was custom-crafted specifically for Tsujikura’s traditional parasols.
When held up to natural sunlight, the gracefully finished Unryu-shi reveals the stunning, floating silhouettes of raw kozo (mulberry) fibers.
Master artisans have dedicated extensive time and care to tailor this paper into an exquisite sun parasol.

A charming Japanese parasol crafted from airy light-blue Unryu washi, gracefully scattered with tonal diamond-shaped paper ornaments (hishi patterns) reminiscent of traditional Tanabata festival decorations.

・Handle: Crafted from natural black bamboo (kurochiku), offering a smooth, comfortable grip that conforms naturally to your hand.
・Silhouette: When closed, the parasol folds seamlessly into the slender, elegant form of a single stalk of madake bamboo.
・Visual Texture: Natural light gently filters through the canopy, illuminating the organic kozo mulberry fibers.
*Unryu-shi is a decorative washi characterized by cloud-like patterns formed by scattering long, hand-torn kozo fibers across the base sheet.

How to Use the Wagasa
When you walk carrying the closed umbrella, please grasp the head of the Wagasa, or for Janome please grasp the cord on the head, and for Bangasa please hold the leather strings bound around the head.

How to Open the Wagasa
The Wagasa may be difficult to open due to the waterproof grease on the Washi. Please lightly grasp the bottom of the runner at the bottom inside the umbrella, and slowly and carefully push to the top to open the Wagasa.
