Hime Wagasa ‘Board-dyed Shibori’ Light Blue
"Hime Wagasa" — Meticulously Handcrafted by Wagasa Artisans —
At Tsujikura, we produce "Hime Wagasa," miniature versions of traditional Japanese umbrellas crafted from authentic Japanese materials. Just like our full-sized Wagasa, these miniatures are created with an unwavering commitment to "Artisanship," "Handmade Quality," and being "Made in Japan." Characterized by their exquisite craftsmanship and high quality, Hime Wagasa are highly regarded by international customers as authentic pieces where tradition and skill truly breathe.
Due to their "Suehirogari" (widening toward the end) shape, Wagasa have long been considered auspicious symbols, cherished as part of dowries and as charms to ward off evil (Yakuyoke) and bring good fortune. Since the concept of "deflecting" applies to umbrellas, they are valued not only for protection against the sun and rain but also for warding off misfortune. Consequently, they are chosen as gifts for various celebrations, including "Sanju" (80th birthday) and wedding commemorations.
Miniature Hime Wagasa are a perfect size for incorporating into Japanese-style interior decor.
They are highly recommended for those who appreciate authenticity, or as commemorative gifts.
