~Kyobeni~
Tsujikura's snake-eye umbrella "Kyōbeni" is an elegant Japanese umbrella used by maiko and geiko in Kyoto.
It can be used not only as a rain umbrella, but also for a variety of purposes such as for photography, display, and as a souvenir.
Some of the photos shown show the process of stretching the washi paper used for Kyobeni onto the umbrella frame.
The craftsman's technique and skill are put to the test in the process of pasting the washi paper and in each of the other processes.
Because skilled techniques are poured into making one umbrella, it takes from one to several months to make one.
In addition to the Japanese umbrellas currently available in stores and online, we are currently producing new Japanese umbrellas which will be available for sale in due course.
