Product Details
This umbrella is made with Washi paper. It is slim and light, the most simple style and easy to use. It is recommended for the first Wagasa. Maiko and Geiko in Kyoto are actually using this type of Wagasa. This is Tsujikura’s original “KIWAMI” series, made of Echinaka handmade paper.
The main raw material is Kozo (paper mulberry), a strong fiber that is hand-made and dyed with plants and trees.
In addition, the hajiki, which keeps the umbrella open, is made of wood instead of metal. The shape is closer to that of the traditional Japanese jyanome umbrella. We hope you will enjoy the pleasant sound of opening and closing that can only be experienced with wooden hajiki. The beautiful wabi color, the texture of handmade Japanese paper, and the fine and neat workmanship by skilled craftsmen.
The result is a luxurious and exquisite product, the “KIWAMI” umbrella.
